Have a Great Year ;)

Koh Phra Thong,

12/01/07

I have arrived to Thailand on the 27th and December for new season with Naucrates. This year, I hope will be productive in number of nests and other conservation issues. The novelty this year will be conducting interviews with fishermen in the three villages located on the island.

We will go and visit the villages on the 13th of this month. Like every year they celebrate children's day. This day is dedicated to the children with food, beverages, games and lots of fun. It will be a good occasion to chat with the head man of the villages to explain what we will be doing this year.

We also will be surveying the rocks below our observation point for juvenile turtle activity. We saw one hawksbill turtle coming to feed two days ago.

Volunteers arrive every 3 days or so to complete our team and help us patrol the beaches. John and Lesley have joined us with some friends. They definitely have woken us our sleepy village. Welcome back !!

A  leatherback nest was laid earlier this month on a beach near Phuket. The eggs were relocated to a safe place to incubate. This give us hope to have a nest soon.

Gotta run (To the club house for a beer)

Enjoy this new year with a positive attitude

Lots of Love
